ABOUT CAPFOS
CAPFOS' exclusive software solutions are the result of years of
structural engineering expertise.
Mission Statement
CAPFOS' mission is to develop and utilize innovative computer applications
to provide solutions for offshore structural engineering problems.
History
CAPFOS was founded in 2004 by C. Chester Wung. Chester, a registered
engineer in the state of California, holds a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering
from UC Berkeley (1989) and has a background in random vibration,
reliability, and finite element method. Chester's experience
in both offshore engineering and software development prompted him
to develop unique solutions for the analysis and management of offshore
structures. Chester has extensive offshore engineering experience,
including working with PMB Engineering and Bechtel Offshore.
Chester also has five years' experience in internet software
development with GEAC Enterprise Solutions, including work
in three tiers, Web applications, presentation, Business Logic,
databases, Java, JSF (JSP), XML, .NET Framework, and C# language
programming.
Chester's structural analysis experience includes:
• Jacket Structures (Shell, Unocal, etc.) - pile and soil,
brace buckle, joint fatigue, and wave/wind/earthquake.
• Compliant Tower (Texaco's Petronius, 1000 ft.) - dynamic
strength, fatigue analysis, mass and damping issues.
• Tension Leg Platform (Statoil, 3000 ft.) - tendon, semi,
riser, and mooring lines interaction.
• Mobile Offshore Base (Navy, Large Semisubmersible) - diffraction
theory and connector studies.
• Anchor/Coupled Mooring Lines (Navy) - stability, anchor/soil
interaction, and trench building.
